Fourteen year old Dread is very fuckin' impressed right now. Goddamn! The last time I saw The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2 on 35mm was the day it came out in 1986, and it was even more incredible looking than I remembered on the big screen! Our deepest gratitude to Bill Moselely for coming to town and laying down one of the most memorable weekends of a very memorable year so far. Special thanks to our pals Doug, Dan, Matt, Nate and everyone at Hollywood Theatre for their continued support and hospitality. Thank you to everyone who came out and gave Bill the warmest of welcomes. It was incredible meeting such dedicated Chainsaw fans! Also, thanks to Judy Fox, photographers Kaili Kallisti, Ben Eastman and a few unidentified strangers for sharing their pics. This Wyrd War will not be stopped. "Peel that pig and slice him thick!"

THE BUZZ IS BACK...MAY 28, 2016!
Wyrd War proudly celebrates the 30th anniversary of Tobe Hooper's 1986 horror opus, THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE PART 2 with a vintage 35mm print and brilliant cult actor and Yale University alumnus BILL “CHOP TOP” MOSELEY presiding over the festivities at Portland, Oregon's historic Hollywood Theatre!
Universally panned by fans and critics alike upon its initial release, the satirical white-knuckle sequel to Hooper's genre defining 1974 independent masterpiece has festered over three decades to emerge as a deeply revered self-conscious classic with its own very distinct and sleazy charms. Starring a decidedly disoriented (and possibly very stoned) Dennis Hopper as “Lefty,” an unhinged former Texas Ranger hellbent on destroying the cannibalistic Sawyer Family, who did terrible things to his young niece and nephew in the first film and who now reside in a creepy underground labyrinth of carnival detritus that makes the Sawney Bean clan seem downright wholesome in comparison. Naturally, it doesn’t go so well and all hell soon breaks loose. But that hardly describes the mindblowing descent into depraved black comedy, cackling puns and perverse misdirected sexual frustration that characterizes Leatherface and family’s lunacy. Featuring a blistering performance by Bill Moseley as Chop Top, co-stars Caroline Williams, Bill “Future Kill” Johnson as Leatherface and veteran Jim Siedow, who gleefully reprises his role as the patriarchal barbeque cook, and with grisly gore effects by Tom Savini - all set to the tunes of The Cramps, Oingo Boingo, The Lords of the New Church, Concrete Blond and Stewart Copeland.
Bill Moseley, perhaps most widely known as Otis B. Driftwood in Rob Zombie's The House of 1000 Corpses (2003) and The Devil's Rejects (2005), will introduce the film and spin tales of madness and mayhem in a Q&A hosted by Dennis Dread immediately following the screening.
Advanced tickets are recommended.

Thank you to everyone who came out last night for another sold out Wyrd War jam! If you were on a date, we hope that ended well for you. Incest, castration, alcoholism and a film that has absolutely nothing to do with witches could conceivably go either way. Special thanks to Dan, Nate, Matt, Jason, our awesome projectionist Melinda and everyone else at The Hollywood Theatre for always going the extra mile to make us feel at home. Also, thanks to our irreplaceable comrade A.K. Wilson for all the great photos. Special thanks to the inestimable Joe Preston for creating the appropriate atmosphere and to all of our witchy vendors for sharing their magic. We made many new friends and we hope we see you all again on May 28th for our next grand declaration of...WYRD!
