WYRD WAR'S THIRD ANNUAL WALPURGISNACHT SCREENING!

WYRD WAR’S THIRD ANNUAL WALPURGISNACHT CELEBRATION!

Join Wyrd War for a special Witches’ Night screening of my favorite Indonesian horror flick directed by cult filmmaker H. Tjut Djalil (yes, he of LADY TERMINATOR infamy)! MYSTICS IN BALI (1981) tells the astonishing tale of a western woman who travels to Bali to research Southeast Asian black magic. Naturally, things take a terrible turn for the worse when her boyfriend assists her in meeting a cackling witch who magically inscribes her thigh with a mystical symbol and precipitates a gory initiation into the occult secrets of the Leák. Be forewarned. The Leák is a mythological creature torn from Balinese folklore and depicted as a disembodied head with entrails dangling from what remains of its bloody neck. Unfolding as something akin to a less mean spirited THE EVIL DEAD on lots of that brown acid they warned the hippies about at Woodstock, we assure you…MYSTICS IN BALI is a joyride like nothing you have ever experienced!

We will have FREE limited edition Mystics in Bali vomit bags for the first 150 people who say hello at the Wyrd War merch table in the theater lobby. Yes, vomit bags. Tickets on sale NOW!

DOUBLE DOSE!

WYRD WAR presents a double dose of hard and heavy rock!
PORTLAND: Friday April 27, 2018 at The Tonic Lounge
SEATTLE: Saturday April 28, 2018 at The Highline

PAINTED DOLL: Explode into space with the incredible psychedelic power pop of Painted Doll, featuring Chris Reifert of Autopsy and funnyman shredder Dave Hill of WFMU! Riding on the magic carpet of a debut self-titled LP on Tee Pee Records, and two highly celebrated New York shows with Monster Magnet, Painted Doll are all fired up to deliver their brand of true-nature's-child jams to Portland for the first time ever! Careful, man. One hit is all you need. Are you Painted Doll? Have you ever been Painted Doll?

DANAVA: The first live appearances of 2018 for Tee Pee recording artists and Portland's unconquerable bellbottom barbarians...Danava! The boys will be headlining both nights with new material from their long-awaited forthcoming LP and their new guitar player Kerby Strom of Acid Wash!

Support in Portland courtesy of PUSHY! Support in Seattle courtesy of NASTY BITS! I will be spinning heavy vinyl at BOTH shows so YOU don't have to suffer through bullshit music in between bands. Come say high! Meet, meet ya in the ladies room...blah blah blah.

ROLLERBALL (1975) ON 35MM!

The year is 2018. There are no wars. There is no crime. There is only...ROLLERBALL.

Wyrd War proudly presents acclaimed Canadian director Norman Jewison’s 1975 science-fiction masterpiece ROLLERBALL on 35mm at Portland's Hollywood Theatre for ONE NIGHT ONLY on Thursday April 12, 2018! ROLLERBALL is an ambitious, sprawling, and ultra-violent meditation on the proverbial hairy chested Individual’s struggle against multinational corporate control...on roller skates! Seemed totally plausible to stoned audiences in the 70s, and survives today as the most aesthetically bewildering future nightmare since A Clockwork Orange for contemporary audiences courageous enough to strap on their helmets for a very bumpy ride. Starring James Caan (The Godfather), Maud Adams (Octopussy), John Houseman (The Paperchase), Moses Gunn (ShaftRoots) and Sir Ralph Richardson (The Heiress), and boasting an incredibly bombastic score conducted by Andre Previn, ROLLERBALL must be experienced on the big screen for maximum impact! In case you haven’t been paying attention, the not-too-distant-future dystopia is…NOW!
