CRO MAGS!

In 1986 the Cro Mags released their debut LP The Age Of Quarrel, a 28 minute blast of violent hardcore that left a permanent impression on my adolescent brain. In particular, singer John "Bloodclot" Joseph struck me with his empowering lyrics and unprecedented vocal delivery. This week I had the pleasure of meeting him face to face when the current incarnation of the Cro Mags rolled through town! They played a killer set with Mackie on drums and members of Leeway and Sick Of It All holding down the bass and guitar. They even threw a few Bad Brains covers into the set to honor their inspiration ('Right Brigade' and 'P.M.A.'). Despite all the Cro Mags drama, John seemed like a humble and sincere guy. If you haven't already read his book The Evolution of a Cro-Magnon, I highly recommend you find a copy immediately. Simply put, it was nice to meet someone who has meant so much to me over the years and find them still going strong on their path. Thanks for everything, John!
